Camp Questions

The AAB Learn-to-Ride Camp is an inclusive program designed for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It helps participants build confidence, improve motor skills, and progress from balance to independent pedaling.

The camp is open to all ages and abilities, focusing on individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Our trained instructors tailor the program to each participant’s needs.

The $975 camp fee includes:

  • A 20x balance bike (designed for ages 8 and up), helmet, and pedal kit.  All equipment will be shipped to the participant’s address.
  • 10 structured lessons led by certified instructors.
  • A graduation ceremony with a certificate of achievement.

The camp includes 10 lessons over flexible schedules such as weekend intensives, weekday programs, or extended sessions. Each lesson focuses on balance, coordination, and progressing from walking with the bike to balancing on the bike to pedaling.

Yes, participants keep the balance bike, helmet, and pedal kit after using them at the camp.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle and snacks. All biking equipment is provided.

Yes! Once participants attend the camp and successfully complete the program, they are invited to join our exclusive All Abilities Bike Facebook group. This online community is a space where participants and their families can share their experiences, celebrate milestones, and stay updated on future initiatives. It’s a great way to stay connected, gain inspiration, and continue fostering the sense of community built during the camp.

Use the Find a Camp tool on our homepage to search for camps by location and register online.

If a camp is canceled due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, participants can opt for a full refund or keep their bike and gear while only paying for the equipment ($500).

Safety is our top priority. All instructors are vetted with a background check to be approved through an application process.  They are trained and certified, and camps are conducted in safe, supervised environments. Participants are required to wear helmets.
